Ce chiffre retomba brutalement \u00e0 cent soixante-dix-sept vers 1920 et \u00e0 moins d&rsquo;une trentaine 15 ans plus tard. Sur les registres de la pr\u00e9fecture d&rsquo;Indre-et-Loire, \u00e0 partir de 1899, on note que le d\u00e9partement n&rsquo;a pas \u00e9chapp\u00e9 \u00e0 cette boulimie technologique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-central-palette-2-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:20px\"><strong>\u00c9mile DELAHAYE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Il na\u00eet le 16 octobre 1843, 30 rue de l&rsquo;Ancienne Intendance (actuellement rue des Halles) \u00e0 Tours. Son p\u00e8re, Pierre Fran\u00e7ois est tapissier et sa m\u00e8re Marguerite Euphrasie \u00e9tait fille de boutique lors de leur mariage en 1833. Th\u00e9odore DELAHAYE (oncle d&rsquo;\u00c9mile) est install\u00e9 dans le m\u00eame immeuble que son fr\u00e8re et, tr\u00e8s t\u00f4t, les enfants vivent dans une ambiance d&rsquo;atelier o\u00f9 l&rsquo;on fabrique des appareils pour le gaz, des lampes de tous genres et quantit\u00e9 d&rsquo;autres produits qui ont, sans doute, influenc\u00e9 \u00c9mile pour le choix d&rsquo;un m\u00e9tier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">A l&rsquo;issue de brillantes \u00e9tudes, il entre tr\u00e8s t\u00f4t au bureau d&rsquo;\u00e9tudes de la Maison CAIL et Compagnie sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9e  dans le mat\u00e9riel ferroviaire. Apr\u00e8s la guerre de 1870 il est nomm\u00e9 ing\u00e9nieur en chef de la succursale de Bruxelles.<br>Le 11 novembre 1873, il \u00e9pouse \u00e0 Bl\u00e9r\u00e9 Olympe Marie Ad\u00e8le  BLANCHET, fille d&rsquo;un ancien entrepreneur de travaux publics.<br>Le 30 juin 1879 il prend, avec son \u00e9pouse, la succession de Louis Julien BRETHON dans un \u00e9tablissement industriel rue du Gazom\u00e8tre \u00e0 Tours (devenue rue Delp\u00e9rier), sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9 dans la fabrication de mat\u00e9riel agricole et d&rsquo;outillage pour tuileries.<br>D\u00e8s 1889, en tant que constructeur de moteur \u00e0 gaz et \u00e0 p\u00e9trole, il obtient \u00e0 l&rsquo;Exposition Universelle de Paris deux m\u00e9dailles d&rsquo;argent et une d&rsquo;or et un grand prix \u00e0 l&rsquo;Exposition Nationale de Tours en 1892.<br>Le 23 juillet 1894, une course organis\u00e9e par \u00ab\u00a0Le Petit Journal\u00a0\u00bb, Paris-Rouen permet de faire figurer une premi\u00e8re voiture \u00e0 vapeur pilot\u00e9e par son ami Ernest ARCHDEACON.<br>Le premier mod\u00e8le  commercialis\u00e9 sera pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 \u00e0 l&rsquo;Exposition du Cycle \u00e0 Paris en 1895 et prendra le nom de Type 1.<br>Participant \u00e0 la course Paris-Marseille-Paris soit 1710 km en 1896, Ernest ARCHDEACON terminera 7<sup>\u00e8me<\/sup> et \u00c9mile DELAHAYE 10<sup>\u00e8me<\/sup>. <br>En 1897, la marque enl\u00e8ve le 1<sup>er<\/sup> et le 3<sup>\u00e8me<\/sup> prix de la course Paris-Dieppe.<br>Apr\u00e8s toutes ces comp\u00e9titions, la marque DELAHAYE commence \u00e0 \u00eatre connue et, le 30 octobre 1897, il signe \u00e0 Paris un acte de cr\u00e9ation de soci\u00e9t\u00e9 avec deux beaux-fr\u00e8res, L\u00e9on BOUTHEROUE-DESMARAIS et Georges MORANE. Son si\u00e8ge est \u00e0 Paris avec succursale 34 rue du Gazom\u00e8tre \u00e0 Tours. Une importante usine sera construite 10 rue du Banquier \u00e0 Paris, mais notre constructeur continue de s&rsquo;occuper de la succursale tourangelle et demeure dans la maison contig\u00fce \u00e0 l&rsquo;atelier.<br>\u00c9mile DELAHAYE cesse son activit\u00e9 le 31 janvier 1901. Apr\u00e8s son d\u00e9part, une nouvelle soci\u00e9t\u00e9 est cr\u00e9\u00e9e entre L\u00e9on BOUTHEROUE-DESMARAIS, Louis Georges MORANE et Samson G\u00e9d\u00e9on LACROIX. Il est stipul\u00e9 qu&rsquo;il n&rsquo;y aura plus de fabrication de voitures automobiles.<br>A la mort de M. La gamme de voitures comprend 2 branches : comp\u00e9tition et tourisme jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 la disparition de la marque.<br>En 1911, la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 s&rsquo;installe 44 place Rabelais \u00e0 Tours et se transforme en soci\u00e9t\u00e9 anonyme, statut qu&rsquo;elle conservera jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 son rachat en 1926.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Au Salon de l&rsquo;automobile de Paris en 1923, la marque ROLLAND-PILAIN pr\u00e9sente le mod\u00e8le C&nbsp;23 surnomm\u00e9 <em>\u00ab&nbsp;La 2 litres&nbsp;\u00bb<\/em> qui fut fabriqu\u00e9e de 1924 \u00e0 1927. Cette voiture est \u00e9quip\u00e9e d&rsquo;un moteur de 1997&nbsp;cm<sup>3<\/sup> \u00e0 arbre \u00e0 cames.<br>En 1924, elle \u00e9tablit le record des 24 heures \u00e0 Montlh\u00e9ry \u00e0 104 km\/h de moyenne.<br>Entre 1924 et 1925, la mission Tranin Duverne traverse pour la 1<sup>\u00e8re<\/sup> fois l&rsquo;Afrique d&rsquo;ouest en est avec deux voitures de s\u00e9rie 10cv en 5 mois.<br>Plus de 5000 automobiles sortiront des usines de la rue Victor Hugo et de la place Rabelais entre 1906 et 1927.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Malgr\u00e9 tous ces exploits et succ\u00e8s sportifs, les finances viennent \u00e0 manquer et <em>La<\/em> <em>2 litres<\/em> C 23 revient trop ch\u00e8re \u00e0 fabriquer.
